John Cudia will be the Phantom on Broadway for a ten week run starting May 22nd!
That's interesting news! I wonder if after Cudia leaves, will it go back to McGillin, or will someone new step into the role?
I thought he was great in the Nat'l Tour.
Sounds like McGillin is just taking more time off....
he deserves it...last year Gary Mauer replaced Howard for a few weeks...
and you know what?..Howard I'm sure can keep going for many more years but he has been in the role for a few years now..He is my favorite phantom but still..
Geez, I hope someone replaces McGillin. The Broadway production is getting STALE like no one's business and McGillin is definitely a part of it. And thats a shame because I adore that musical and would like top see it go out with a real bang instead of just fading.
Gary Mauer was beyond fantastic when I saw him, but I think he's officially done with Phantom.
Someone who hasn't already been in the show? That'd be the first in a LOOONG time.
I hope Howard plays the Phantom until the end of time.
Yay! I agree, McGillian really needs to go...it's been FOREVER!! I'd love to see Cudia stay full-time, since he's just fantastic! I also wouldn't mind if Tim Martin Gleason was promoted to Phantom. I'm not a fan of his Raoul at all, but his Phantom is pretty spectacular. Perhaps they might move more people from the Vegas production to NYC? Honestly anyone at this point would be a breath of much needed fresh air!
I agree. Think of all the awesome would-be Phantoms out there who can't get a chance to play the part.
If this is phantomo88's source (and I'm sure it is, although he never cites them), I don't think McGillin returning is necessarily the case anymore.
