Posted: 5/8/05 at 3:24amDOTV was a travesty of a beautiful show. It would have had a higher chance of succeeding if they stuck with the original show

Or better yet, they should have just left it in Germany.
Let Steinman get on with Batman. And, trust me, it is not
what you think it is. It's a really good show -
on the scale of Threepenny Opera

1. The Nightmare
2. Total Eclipse of the Heart
3. The Insatiable Greed
4. For Sarah
5. Is Nothing Sacred Anymore?
6. Make Us Braver Than We Are
7. Come With Me
8. Hey, Ho, Professor
9. Time Now To Feed
10. Knoblauch (Garlic)
11. Tot Zu Sein Ist Komisch (Death is Such an Odd Thing)
12. Dance of the Vampires
These aren't right. The only songs that were demo'd, with a lot of versions available are:
Overture (played with Carpe Noctem)
Angels Arise - not on the original demo; recorded later
God has Left the Building - there are about a million versions of this
Original Sin - with Steve Barton
There's Never Been a Night Like This - demo for West End
Invitation to the Ball - demo for West End
Braver Than we Are - there are millions of versions of this
Come With Me - Steve Barton; with different lyrics than what are in the Broadway show
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Steve Barton & Elaine Caswell
Carpe Noctem - Kyle Gordon; varying versions available
For Sarah - Aris Sas (singing in English, OMG!)
Eternity - A German demo. I've never heard this
Forgive me Father - Intro to Confession
Confession of a Vampire - Steve Barton
Dance of the Vampires - varying versions
Plus Vampires Dance, another God has Left the Building,
but with the note of 'taking place toward the end of the show'
Other Steinman demos, from recent works, that have not circulated:
Not Allowed to Love - Rob Evan & Karine Hannah (from Batman the Musical)
I Need all the Love I Can get - from Batman the Musical
Plus a bunch of stuff that Karine and Rob both did for Jim

I can't say I LOVED it, but I did enjoy myself. It was very campy and fun. Believe me - I've seen FAR worse on Broadway. I think the pre-publicity for this thing was so hot and heavy that even if it had been the greatest show since Oklahoma, it would still have failed. (And believe me, it was a long, long way from Oklahoma
)

Posted: 5/8/05 at 8:51amWhy does everyone keep forgetting the origins of this show and associate it as a camp melodrama? It wasn't that! It was a German show that was trashed on Broadway
