What does everyone think?

I personally don't mind a loin cloth or tow in a broadway show!

the cast for the workshop seems pretty strong... i think Tarzan on broadway could be quite interesting and neat if done correctly.. the only person im not sure of is Laura Bell Bundy... what does everyone think of her possibly playing Jane?

I was happy to learn Adam Pascal was involved...then it was mentioned he's the Narrator and after screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" at the loss of him in a loincloth, I started to lose interest...I'm sorry, I'm shallow that way.

1. Ted Allen: Everyone has an interesting life if you ask the right questions.
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

From what I've been able to gather lately, Adam's involvement is sounding less and less likely.

@ Chatterbox recently Matt Morrison said that the most recent workshop no longer had the roles separated like that.

Matt Morrison in a loincloth for 2 hours sounds like a lovely way to spend an evening.

Sounds like a good way to spend two hours to me too, baddadnpa. And it'd be a plus if Adam was going to be there too. I'm excited for it even though it's not my favorite Disney movie.

Kevo...I agree about being unsure about Laura...but I'm sure she'll do fine...

Plus with Matt up there in a loincloth for 2 hours, I'm sure she'll be the last person I'll be worried about LOL.

There's already a thread about it...

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I didn't get the impression (much as I'd have liked to) that the workshop cast would be in any way involved with the acutal production - it DID say that casting hadn't been announced yet, correct? and hasn't Matthew Morrison expressed some interest in recent interviews in going out to LA to pursue film and television rather than more broadway? (breaks my heart) I wouldn't count on him...so who do we think will do it? Or will it be an unknown? I can see Gavin Creel doing it now that he's done with LaCage...or maybe that's just cause of hte hair, lol

I woulnd't be surprised if it were unknowns - Disney did it before with Lion King, right?

Watch out for The Palace to be named as the theatre....

I wouldn't be surprised if there were "no-names" in the show...with the mega-machine that is Disney, they can make anyone a name really.

But it is always fun to guess...Matt Morrison as Tarzan would just put dew on my lilly!

Im not sold, even though i like the movie and the songs in it. I wasn't all that enamored with LION KING as a stage musical.

Guess we'll see.

Ok, there was a thread a way back on the Off- Topic board, that said "Things to do before you die". Let me go on record saying:
Seeing Adam and Matt semi naked on the same stage !!!

according to audition monitors at the final callback on monday (the potentials sang for phil collins and the whole creative staff) Disney is set to cast unknowns in pretty much all of the roles. The Tarzan and narrator roles have been combined into one role and neither matt morrison or adam pascal are it.

I just wish if they were going to make another Disney musical, they would've picked one with better music. >_< I'm not a big fan of Tarzan's songs.

I don't doubt it, but is Tarzan popular enough to sell without a name?

I actually reeeeally love the music from Tarzan (I dig some Phil Collins in general), it's one of my faves. Real excited about this.

I hated the music in Tarazan. Its the only Disney musical I haven't seen all the way through. I loved Aladdin though. And B&B. I'm interested to see what they do. It seems Disney is taking over B'way. With Marry Popppins & Little Mermaid on the way, i'm afraid there won't be room for anything else. Also, all three of their new shows need huge theaters, not that many open.

somehow I wouldnt see the need for having the people who were involved in the workshops at the current auditions... ? Dont you think they already know what they can do...??

(Yes, auditions are ongoing, no contracts have been signed, etc. Totally agree with all that!)

And with that very clever and discreet post from our most reliable Matt source, we can speculate that Matt could very well be still involved in the project, thank God ! re: DISNEY Presents Tarzan
