Was there ever any Doubt? HA. I kill me!

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

There shouldn't have been. This is a fabulous, thought-provoking play featuring two lead performances that rank up there with the best of many a season.

I am very glad that The Clean House was nominated though. I saw it at the Yale Rep last fall and it was great. It essentially tells the story of this Brazilian maid who absolutely hates cleaning and how she changes the lives of those around her. While that sounds very boring, the play goes off in directions that you would never expect (sort of like a Martin McDonagh play except no one gets hurt) and it is told with a lyric almost magical realist tone in the second act (the Yale Rep's incredible set design played up these magical realist elements). It is both hilarious and profoundly touching.
