Now that we have a movie in the works and a potential revival down the road I was wondering if any changes need to be made in the plot. I think there needs to be a little more clarity to why everyone thinks Effie is so difficult. In the stage musical there's also a reference to Curtis and "...all the drugs" that comes out of nowhere. And just for fun...I wonder who Brenda Talbert and Bertha Jackson were?
Here are my ideas: 1. Effie and Deena has a sing off 2. CC has a undisclose affection for Deena 3. Lorell has more songs to sing lead on 4. Effie deals with depression of her weight and acceptance hence affecting her dream to be a star Just my thoughts, not for sure.
I hope people go out and see the movie it will for sure reflect real life not just black people, we have a teaser coming in December so let see.
ehhh the show is 2+ hours already. We don't want a Wagnerian opera. I think it's fine the way it is personally. I don't thinkg Deena and Effie need a "sing-off". Deena already admits she's not the singer Effie is. Lorell can't sing lead because there's only 1 lead singer. It kinda screws with the central drama of the show. I also don't think that Effie has to be big. It makes it a bit more dramatic I'll admit. She has to be more ethnic and soulful than just big. They mention her getting fatter only because she's pregnant. i dunno I really think it's a really well put together show. CC having a thing for Deena is kind of interesting though. If there's time it might be nice to see it explored a bit. It's already implied. I dunno it might take the focus away.
