DREAMGIRLS and Jennifer Hudson at Disney's Gay Days

Hey all,

Just got back from the KINGDOM party at the House Of Blues in Anaheim/Downtown Disney! It's Gay Days weekend at Disneyland and the main sponsor of Gay Days on all the flyers and stuff is DREAMGIRLS the movie! So at this KINGDOM party they had Jennifer Hudson perform 4 numbers...two uptempo random songs and also "One Night Only" as well as "Dreamgirls," which she slowed down "Effie style" as she put it. OMGOSH though "One Night Only" was amazing! She dedicated it to Bill Condon, who she POINTED OUT up in the VIP section! So cool that Bill was there. She also asked for help singing at one point and she put the mic in front of ME and like a dumbass I blanked on the lyrics even though I know the song like the back of my hand! I was put on the spot though! So of course one of the drag queens dressed like a Disney villain helped her sing it and made a joke about how only she is old enough to know the "soundtrack," when of course I TOTALLY know the cast recording and I just blanked.

Anyway another cool part was that they premiered the full theatrical TRAILER! We got to see it before anyone else cuz it's not out until Friday in theatres. OMGOSH you guys, it starts REALLY dramatic and you can't tell what it's about, then it goes into James Thunder Early doing a number, then it goes in to the Dreams making their debut in the Crystal Room, and then of course we finally get a sneak peak at JUST THE AUDIO of "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going!" The crowd went CRAZY just to hear the first lyric in the clip (I forget which part), and then of course the editing gets really dramatic to match up with the "and you...and you...and you..." and everyone like had a collective orgasm, it was AMAZING. Already from just a few of the words in that song, JHud has TOTALLY put her own interpretation on those lyrics, they are totally well acted. But then of course she goes powerhouse too. LOVE IT!

Ooo I also got some free magnets that are record covers of The Dreams! One is like the 60's album that has all their original hits, and one is all disco-fied and is called TOUCH. Nice detail on them.

OMGOSH I am so excited for this movie. I will post my lame camera-phone pic of JHud performing as soon as I can.

I was there too! That woman is a friggin ROCK STAR! Gives me great hope for the film and I can't wait to see it. Yet another IDOL 'reject' who will outlast any winner. J-HUD RULES!

Someone emailed me a link to a version of JH singing THE song, but my friend who saw a sneak of the movie said it's not the one used in the movie, maybe a test run or a "radio friendly" one.
Is it illegal to email the file or post here?
