To my knowledge... YankeeFan will be seeing this show this weekend.. I am sure that he is going to post his reviews. So stay tune to his reviews..Its sad when people dont read very well written reviews on Off- Broadway (like his) and just go to 2nd page bec. its not Wicked, Rent or Legally Blonde or SA . But I am glad you expressed interest with the show. I do wanna thank him though for taking time to see Off-Broadway shows and post it...eventhough it does not appeal to most posters here..

Usually Off-Broadway stage dooring is easier than Broadway shows. Stars are usually happy to greet their fans. I never missed them every time I stage door on OB shows.

Indeed I will be there this afternoon. And I'm greatly looking forward to it. Sarah Ruhl is always good for something interesting and Anne Bogart is always good for something intellectual and thought-provoking. And then there's Mary-Louise Parker and Kathleen Chalfant, who do consistently great work.

For the record, there's no "stage door" - the dressing rooms are below the theater (across from the bathrooms), so the actors exit through the lobby.

Speaking of Sarah Ruhl- her play "THE CLEAN HOUSE" is currently playing in Boston (well-- Watertown) at the New Repertory Theater. Since I am home-bound this weekend bec. of this nasty snow.. I was looking for a tix..but none were available! but nevertheless..I will see Theresa Rebeck's THE SCENE at Lyrics Stage tonight here in Boston. I was actually planning to see this on 3/8...but I re-scheduled my N2N to 3/8 and move THE SCENE tonite... I was bummed out to find out that Theresa Rebeck will be coming to Boston on 3/8 and do a talk-back after the 2 pm matinee....I just blew my chance to meet her. I love her plays.. like MAURITIUS and I will be seeing another of hers this summer called THE UNDERSTUDY with Julie White in the Berkshires...I wish I can meet her then....

Ruhl and Rebeck are acquired tastes. Rebeck's work plays around with the cynical aspects of human life, and how cynical, nasty people get around in the world.

Ruhl's work deals with the poetic nature of fantasy and escapism. Her directors create extraordinary stage pictures using 5 actors and her words.

"The Clean House" was just here in Louisville, at Actors Theater.

I can't afford my subscription there anymore so I pick and choose the shows I see, and this wasn't one.

I heard good things from those that saw it.

I have a friend who works at ATL and he said that audiences who saw THE CLEAN HOUSE there responded to the show like magic. At the curtain call...they would politely applaud the actors when they took their bow, then they would stop applauding. And just sit there. No one would get up to leave the theatre. They all just sat and took everything in. The house lights were up, the actors left the stage, the lobby doors were opened, but the audience didn't budge.

I would have killed to have seen that production.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Here are my thoughts on the play. I have mixed feelings about it. Parker and Chalfant (and the rest of the cast really) do not disappoint though.

I went to try and meet Mary Louise Parker after the play two nights ago and she did NOT come out the front (despite the fact that I was told on this forum that the actors exit from there. Though to be fair it seemed like all the others did) so I missed her that night.

Tonight I went back and instead tried the back exit (called the 'loading bay'); I DID manage to meet Mary tonight, and I'm very happy about that. However she was very quiet, and tried to get to her car as quickly as possible. She still signed for everyone (all three people) and obliged when I asked for a photo with her.

My friend, however, couldn't get a photo with her as she dashed into her car as soon as she'd taken mine.

So it is possible to meet her, but I wouldn't expect anything much from the experience re: Dead Man's Cell Phone?

I'm still very happy I got to meet her and get a photo.
