Hey guys! During conversation, a friend casually mentioned that this would be off-Broadway in the fall/winter. I wasn't aware of this and was curious if anyone knew anything more about this production (in terms of casting and whatnot)? I'm surprised by the lack of discussion when this was first announced!
I did a search and noticed it wasn't discussed on this board. It seems to be very low key, which is surprising considering the movie has become a classic in its way.
I provided a link below detailing this production!

I don't think it has been discussed because I doubt anyone knows anything beyond what's in that article. I can imagine it being staged well at CSC but there is no cast and nothing much to go on. If the writer can translate it to the stage (and it doesn't seem a terrible stretch) it could be good. Or not.

I was intrigued when I saw CSC was doing it, but then I saw John Doyle's name listed as director and I was no longer intrigued.

I won't be able to see it since I'll be studying abroad, but I really wish I could. I love the movie, and I think the uplifting, poetic spirit of it has the potential to translate well onstage. In particular, I think the scene in the end when they stand on the tables could be a really beautiful climactic musical number.
However, I agree with the poster above me. I am not much of a fan of John Doyle as a director, but I'd see it anyway.

I'm excited for Dead Poets Society, but I think the part I'm the most excited about is Pacific Overtures directed by John Doyle. That sounds pretty stunning.

The new season looks fantastic. The Liar is one of the funniest plays I've ever read, and the Pacific Overtures seems really exciting.

SO excited to finally see a production of Pacific Overtures, which is one of my favorite cast albums.
Dead Poet's Society could work fine as a play, though it's hard to see how a stage version would really justify a separate existence from the film. Whoever fils Robin's shoes will have to be a courageous man.

Oh wait, lol, I didn't read carefully enough. I just assumed this adaptation would be a musical, but it's not. Interesting.

How long do CSC productions last usually? I can only schedule (afford) one trip to NYC next spring, and I don't want to choose between Pacific Overtures and the Encores! Golden Apple (May 10 ~ 14).
