Dear Evan Hansen tickets 4th Jan

Hi all,

Sorry if this post will annoy other users but I'm coming to New York for the first time from Scotland on the 3rd January till the 7th. I've booked different shows and that, but I really Really want to get tickets for Dear Evan Hansen, and see it on the 4th of Jan as that is our only day free. I have checked their website - telecharge, broadway.com and playbill and they have none available till the 17th of January.

As this will be the first and last time I will be in New York for years I need to see this incredibly reviewed show and see what everyone is talking about... plus I love Pasek & Pauls music too!

I was wondering would any of you guys know of anywhere that would be selling tickets at a reasonable price (I'm an MT student so I'm broke lol) for the 4th Jan?

Any help you could give would be brilliant, Thank you! :_

I understand your eagerness to see the show and applaud your commitment. I think a lot of other people will find themselves in a similar position given that so many shows are sold out or close to sold out. Here are my recommendations:

- Check Telecharge a few days before the performance. I've noticed that sometimes premium seats appear a few days ahead of time. Maybe these are house seats that have been released? Still, it's worth checking every day starting a week ahead of time.

- Check Stubhub on the day of the performance for dropping prices. I've seen prices plummet on the day of the performance.

- Show up before the box office opens on the day you want to go. They will sell any partial view tickets they have remaining. The partial view seats are not bad (usually you don't get the full effect of the projections from some of the partial view seats and you miss one or two moments that you can still hear). I recommend trying to avoid partial view seats on the extreme left side of the house as there are a few scenes (one of them pivotal) where you'll mainly watch Evan's back and depending on how close to the stage you sit, you can also see what's happening in the wings, which is a little distracting. I sat in the box seats for one performance, and the view from there is great. I highly recommend those seats, but they are selling those in advance so it's unlikely they'll be available for January 4th. (The day you arrive in NY you might want to go ask at the box office if box seats are available for the 4th since you can't buy them online.)

- If all the partial view seats are gone, get standing room tickets. The Music Box is such an intimate house that the view isn't bad at all from the back of the orchestra. The show isn't also too long to stand through. The first act is about an hour and 15 minutes, and the second act is about an hour long. And there are comfortable couches downstairs where you can sit before the show and during intermission.

- Enter the lottery if it's open!
