The film had a lot of charm (and Meryl was hot, hot, HOT!), has it ever been discussed or rumored to become a musical or play? I think it could be very hard to transfer but nice, depending on the creative team and cast. If it were to become a musical, I would think that the score would be dark, mainly dynamic, and "talkative", much like Sondheim or Michin.
By the way, I find it very funny that Meryl stated she hated working on a movie that used such heavy CGI and she won't ever do it again. Into the Woods...(she obviously reconsidered)

Possible casting?
On a more serious note, I think Marin Mazzie would be a nice Madeline

I actually like the song that opens the movie, "That's Me!". However, I don't think its a great song, its just so campily done it makes me laugh. I wondered why someone didn't perform this when when Meryl Streep received her Kennedy Center Honor. This or "I'm Checkin' Out" from POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE would have been a much better song than was sung.
