#0Deborah Cox and Cheyenne Jackson in AIDA
Posted: 2/22/04 at 3:36pmI was in town with some of my friends this weekend and we caught the saturday night show of AIDA. I had seen it before with Simone and liked it ok, but last night really knocked my socks off. Cheyenne Jackson, the standby for Radames was on, and he was awesome. Such a big voice and the bluest eyes ever. His chemistry with Deborah (who was amazing as well) was so good. We met them both after the show and they were so nice and funny and we took pictures. I highly recommend seeing this show for anyone interested, and if you happen to get Cheyenne on that night, you won't be dissapointed.

Posted: 2/22/04 at 3:54pmGlad to read that Cheyenne had a good night. Is everything OK with Will Chase?

Posted: 2/22/04 at 4:03pmMy sources with the show have told me Will Chase is avoiding going on because Deborah smells like old cheese and it makes him gag onstage and his eyes water up so badly he can't see. He hate hate HATES her because she smells. (For those of you wondering who my source is, its an empty gum wrapper sitting on my desk, it gives me a psychic connection with everyone in the show.)

Posted: 2/22/04 at 6:42pmI was fortunate enough to have caught Cheyenne Jackson as Radames when I saw the show in January and I was really impressed. His voice was wonderful and he certainly has a commanding stage presence.

Posted: 2/22/04 at 7:32pmI need to try to catch Cheyenne as Radames. I saw him do a concert for Millie. I think he sang What Do I Need With Love and it was soooo good! Great voice, great stage presence, beautiful eyes!

Posted: 2/22/04 at 10:01pmWill Chase was on today (Sunday, Feb. 22nd) and he was in full voice and perfect health. An excellent Radames to Saycon's Aida! What a team! She was the most beautiful woman I have seen.

I wonder what was up with Will. I went to the 2pm show on Saturday and met both Deborah and Will. I distinctively remeber Will coming back with his lunch/dinner in hand and stating that he was going to take a nap before the evening. Then again, I guess that could've meant he was preparing for an evening elsewhere. Oh well.

Posted: 2/28/04 at 9:41amFinally saw it last night. Cheyenne Jackson was on as Radames. Man does he have a crystal clear singing voice. There is real chemistry between Deborah & him. IMO he, Deborah Cox, and Lisa Brescia were born to play the parts of Radames, Aida, and Amneris. They each handle the acting & singing parts brilliantly and seem to draw energy from one another. They struck a perfect balance in the musical number A Step Too Far. I found Mickey Dolenz' monotonous singing voice annoying & his acting less than pedestrian. Despite the attacks on Eric LaJuan Summers, he gets high marks from me. Overall I like current cast. Just wish something could be done to energize the former Monkee Dolenz.

Posted: 2/28/04 at 2:13pmThis is really a random question, but does anyone know if Cheyenne used to work at the Olive Garden in Times Square? Laugh as you may, but I swear I had a waiter there named Cheyenne and he looked like this one. Not that there aren't other Cheyennes working around the theatre district (I bet Cheyenne is a very common name!), I just think that'd be a cool coincidence .

Posted: 2/28/04 at 4:54pmDon't know when you might have seen him at the Olive Garden, but he was in Thoroughly Modern Millie for a while (in the ensemble and covered Jimmy and Trevor Graydon)...I think he first came to NYC in 2002...so, unless this was right before Millie, he probably didn't wait tables...the rehearsing and performing schedule probably took up all his time.
