so it turns out I may be headed off to New York for a few days in December, and of course I wanna see some shows. I will probably have time for 4 shows, I definitely wanna see Phantom of the Opera, and Sweeney Todd, im having a little trouble picking the other shows, im interested in the following

The Woman in White
Rent
Beauty and the Beast (I heard its not as good as it used to be)
The Light in the Piazza

any other suggestions or advice on the ones I've picked? im not interested in any of the jukebox musicals. Thanks!

I would definitely reccommend Light in the Piazza. I'm sure you have heard throughout these boards, but Piazza is a beautifully orchestrated musical.
maybe also Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? I believe Sara Ramirez is leaving in December from Spamalot, so if at all possible... try and get tickets to see her before she leaves, though highly unlikely you'll be able to get them.

I'm bummed that you are missing Matty Morrison and Hugh Panaro though... korenglish

I recommend DRS. Just listenning to it I can feel the chemistry of the cast and I believe they are all signed through Jan. Just my opinion though since I haven't actually seen it.

DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS for sure...highly anticipated are THE WOMAN IN WHITE & SWEENY TODD! Go with those 3 for sure and your good ol' standby of PHANTOM and I think youll have a wonderful time in NY!

I am going to repeat what korenglish just said... go see Light in the Piazza. You have already mentioned this show on your list, and I really hope you go see it... the show closes January 1st, so you will probably be at the show in the closing stages of the musical. The set, score, pit, and cast are equally amazing together.

I usually love ALW's work but I did not really enjoy The Woman in White, BUYT it sounds like the cast for Broadway is going to be better thatn the original London cast. I agree with everyone else who said see Light in the Piazza. An amazing, gorgeous show. God I hope they tour it!

Piazza for sure. Really try to see the Woman in White, I loved it and can't wait for it to hit broadway. Then of course Phantom of the Opera, and your other choice Sweeny Todd. I think you'll have a fantastic time with those 4.

How "old" are these sisters, if you dont mind my asking? If theyre over 15 I say...DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is the way to go. Or if they respect Andrew Lloyd Webber, THE WOMEN IN WHITE! DRS is just a ton of fun though!

No fan at all of Woman in White. Very boring, esp. if your sisters are teenagers. Very adult material, nothing really exciting happens. Very depressing.

Thanks so much!

Any word on who will be replacing him? I really enjoyed Hugh. I'll be sad to see him go. I hope the next Phantom is as good or better.
