How are these concerts presented? or if anyone has attended one of these events, What should I expect? Anything I should know before I purchase a ticket?

Posted: 1/28/09 at 7:53pmThis one is on a much larger scale than the last one, which was held in the second floor lobby of the theater. This one is actually in the theater, and has a lot more performers. It sounds like a really fun event, and it's a GREAT lineup of performers!

Mamma Mia, Billy Elliot, Nathan Lane, David Hyde Pierce.... i wonder how a 5 minute Prop. 8 musical video
will use over 40 performers and companies in 2 in a half hours?

Baby doll, it's not gonna be a 2.5 hour show JUST ABOUT the Prop 8 musical video clip (that's just gonna be reenacted live). In addition, there is going to be MANY MANY many many acts. Speakers, singers, skits, large-company songs, soloists...
It's a benefit concert (like any other on a Monday night) only this one has a CAUSE most everyone is standing-behind (rather than a special interest group).

Just an update.
Carol Shelley, Allison Janney joined concert :)
Rosie's Kids and Cheyenne Jackson dropped
Anyone else recently decide to get a ticket for this? or thinking about it?
*I am sure a lot of changes of the list will be happening. I got a ticket about 2-3 weeks ago and the list was a lot smaller and less glamorous

Yay for Allison! I know she was in the Prop 8 musical but I wonder if she'll do something besides that or present. Although I'm sure she's familiar with certain things and people already I love how she's settling into the Broadway community (her cameo in Legally Brown was so funny!).
Now if Megan were there we could see the 9 to 5 trio. =)

Posted: 2/12/09 at 9:58amWait, Cheyenne Jackson dropped out? He doesn't seem like the type to drop out of a benefit. That's too bad.

Got my tickets yesterday! Whoohoo.
For those who are interested, there seems to be a handful of good seats still available.

I received my tickets today! YAY!!
I think they should tape the show and release it on DVD with the proceeds being donated to an Equal Rights Education fund for those folks who just can't seem to grasp such a simple concept.

Rev. Al Sharpton is now gonna be there as well. That was not the cherry i was looking for to top it off. I am looking forward to last minute casting for the rest of the week.

$26.50 lottery announced. Kinda wished I had waited to buy a ticket, but what can you do? And wondering who the big female star they won't be announcing until the concert is going to be.

At the risk of bias, I can assure that in an evening full of great performers, songs and stars... there will be a show-stopper in Act 1.
Shoshana Bean singing "House of Love" by Jeremy Schonfeld with the entire New York City Gay Men's Chorus (the very kind of individuals for whom the concert is striving to benefit). VERY powerful song and excellently performed.
I'm SO impressed with the concert producers/organizers Tony Galde, Di Ana Pisarri,Jen Waldman and Schele Williams... an ever-growing and incredible line-up of celebrities and participants!

And to address the speculation of filming (as mentioned above), yes there is a video planned, documenting the entire concert-building, rehearsal and staging. No great details on it though (but the cameras are out and rolling already)

Those participating....any idea what the running time will be?
I'm just trying to coordinate the bus/train back to NJ for afterwards...it seems like with all of these acts, it could go on for quite awhile.
