It's Mary Rodgers. That's some damn good DNA.

And from the interviews I've read, Adam inherited his grandpa's bitter, anti-social personality.

I saw him at Drama Bookshop and although he was rather shy, he seemed very nice.

well yeah cuz in just about every interview he has somebody has to bring it up. he's suffering from the jullian lennon syndrome. and for the chick who didn't know who adam was... i highly reccomend "myths and hyms." HIGHLY. most people forget about it and focus on "Floyd Collins," which i grant is an amazing score, but really works better when you're watching the show than on cd. if you get a chance to see the show, go. as for myths and hyms, it works quite well on cd since it's a song cycle, much like "songs for a new world" only more connected. the lyrics are pure poetry, really. the melodies are haunting. one the major critisisms that i've heard is that he's too sondheim-influenced, which i disagree with. people always want to compare the new generation to steve, and that's really unfair. he doesn't sound like his family either, it's entirely unique. so, go get em tiger.

Sorry, yes, Dorothy's the wife, Mary's the daughter, Adam's the grandson. I knew that, but it's late and the theatre trivia part of my brain has been overloaded tonight.
Adam has been very, very sweet the few times I've met him. We have friends in common and they all say he couldn't be nicer. Then again, I didn't know him during his "party years" (to use a polite expression) when apparently he was very different. He's outrageously gifted, but has been under tremendous pressure (both self-imposed and imposed by the press and the industry) because of his family legacy. No one could ever hope to compete with his grandfather's body of work, so I hope he's managed to reconcile all of that and is ready to forge a path of his own outside of that formidable shadow (friends who saw it in Chicago, tell me his "Light in the Piazza" is absolutely brilliant).
