If they keep quiet, she must have done a good job. LOL! Because in all the recent Melanie related topics quite a few people were critisizing her BEFORE she even performed.
Anyway, there were a few people, NOT from these boards, who managed to see her during the opening night. They said, she did an impressive job. They also watched the show on Friday, when Karmine (which is said to be the BEST Mimi) performed instead of Melanie, so I guess there is something to compare with.

There is a really small review of sorts in that thread. It's a safe bet there will be more on those forums coming up soon. Though be warned, they probably won't all be that positive unless she is realllly good.

Voiceanth.. don't you know that Broadway is for Broadway stars *only*? Anyone who is remotely *famous* should be shot for even *thinking* about coming near the Broadway world, even if they *are* trained in musical theatre.

I personally think Julie Harris would be a smashing Mimi. With Phillip Bosco as Mark and Vanessa Redgrave as Maureen.

Posted: 4/20/04 at 6:29pmhmmm (stunt casting aside) the one thing i am still worried about is her accent. they said the still heard it. i dont know if i could believe her as Mimi - a Spanish girl from NY. if she has a British Accent. Def. looks the part ill give her that much. I am seeing it on Sat. I'll post with a full review. I actually love the cast on now. But when i went i did see a swing (joanne) an understudy (mimi) and another understudy/standby (benny) all three were phenominal. Who is KLK? it was on the other website. They said she played Maureen. Is Maggie Benjamin not in it or just out that night?
Though scattered and divided we are still its heart...AIDA SEPTEMBER 5th, 2004...one more longing backward glance...

i can't believe she's playing Maureen...god, she's old too!!

she was "horrid" when she went on as Janet in Rocky Horror.
