Dirty Dancing questions

As you all know by now a stage musical of Dirty Dancing will be taking place in London later this year. My question was does anybody know if it will be coming to Broadway? It's my sisters favorite movie and we always thought it would be a great stage musical, so we would love to see it but can't afford to go to London. Is it new or a revival?

It is literally the film put on stage. It was a huge hit for the producers (Jacobsens) here in Australia, has since opened in Germany where it is also doing well. The London production opens, with a record advance, in September. I read recently that Jacobsens plan to open a production in Asia and in 2007 a company in Chicago, with a possibility of Broadway to follow. They say they are in no hurry to take the show to Broadway but plan to tour the US first.

The movie was just on the other night and my mom and I said we'd love to see this on stage... like MOULIN ROUGE.

I hope this gets to Broadway and that it does well

ive been cast in the ensemble of this in london and the director told us they arent really that bothered about the show going to the states as they dont see it as been important as the show is already set to do big buisness but they said it will prob end up there some day
