I don't understand what's wrong with saying that your main reason for wanting to buy a ticket to a show during a certain month is to see the original cast. (And I saw Laura Marie Duncan in DRS and she was GREAT, but that doesn't mean that I would say to someone from out of town that it's unreasonable for them to prefer to see Norbert/John/etc. For example, if Harvey Fierstein returned to Hairspray or the original cast came back to Rent, it would increase my interest in seeing the show. And I somehow doubt that all of the people who have bought tickets to the Odd Couple are in love with the play and don't care if there are understudies or not.)

"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
