sorry for the delay but I didn't have internet access for a few days.. saw DRS at the Old Globe in San Diego on Friday, October 29th... was bummed because I got Sherie Rene Scott's u/s... gosh darnit!

anyways... in so many words.. AMAZING... HILLARIOUS... EXCELLENT... WONDERFUL... really.. just a great night of theater... I really hope this show makes it big on Broadway... David Yazbeck is such an amazing composer and lyricist... i loved The Fully Monty... and felt that show was so much more better than The Producers (which I also like) and was really sad it didn't win any awards... which is deserved more than the Producers... but that's another post... so if you loved The Fully Monty, I guarantee you will love this show... i really don't have much complaints.. it'll be interesting to see how it translates to a bigger stage since the Old Globe is such a small stage...

John Lithgow... i don't care if this guy can't sing that great... he was hillarious... HILLARIOUS... he can play a narcissitic egomaniac so easily... it was awesome...

Norbert Leo Butz... please give this guy a Tony award.. NOW.. he's so talented... i keep forgetting that I saw him years ago opposite Teri Hatcher as the Emcee in Cabaret... his first big solo was an incredible number... Norbert basically has the audience eating out of the palm of his hand... he has such tremendous stage presence and just makes the audience love him... the Ruprecht number was freaking hillarious!

Gregory (i think that's his first name) Jbarra... probably the best actor on the stage... next to John... a great role

Joanna Gleason... I was excited to see her live after seeing her in the Into the Woods DVD... she must have been sick because she cracked her notes so many times... i felt bad... still... i liked her... good comic timing... her character though needs to be fleshed out more... it does seem like a random character (i have never seen the movie and now i have to)... she makes fun of that fact in the end of Act I which was quite funny... but her character seemed to do nothing... which now moves onto...

Sara Gettlefinger... i have heard great reviews about her... and they were RIGHT... her Jolene was so freaking hillarious... the lyrics to her Oklahoma song were great... audience was loving it... but my complaint... she has like one song and two scenes then disappears... give this girl more to do... PLEASE!!!!

Laura Marie Comb.. Sherie's u/s... she was excellent... her voice was kinda quiet at times... but I was impressed... very impressed... hopefully she gets to do bigger things someday...

Well.. i'm not good at writing reviews... but I truly loved this show and it was such a great time... can't wait for the cast recording...

Ahhh! Yay! I love reading reviews of DRS, and all your stuff about Norbert really made me giggle (I've become a big fan of his and completely agree on the Tony statement). I can't wait to see this show next summer.
