"I remember he saying in an interview (I believe for Edward Scissorhands, though I could be wrong) that he was having understandable trouble with a lead that couldn't walk in Act I or speak in Act II."
Considering Mr. Bourne has make a career out of choreographing ballets, which have no dialogue and all of the story is told through movement, I doubt he would have a problem with a character that doesn't speak.
