Well, he wasn't in the show.
He didn't have to even have to come out the stage door.
But, he did. Waved, and then left.

Since when did waving and leaving, when you're not in the show yet, become rude? Now that he's captured the spotlight he is accused of hogging all the attention at the stage door.
He's damned if he don't and damned if he does.
He has the patience of a saint. People who ask for numerous things to be signed and individual and group shots of every member of their group are selfish morons. I feel for him and any performer who has to put up with all sorts of rude behavior from the public, but gets criticized for acting human themselves.
