I love it, actually. I'm in Westchester, too, and Tuesday is the only day during the weekdays I can get to the theatre. Get out of class at two, take the incredibly slow bus to the train station, take a train to the city, get in just around five, which is the perfect time to buy rush tickets, kill two hours, see the show, grab a train back home and still have time to hang out and pretend I'm doing homework. If it was at eight, Tuesday would probably still be my only weekday to get to the theatre (I don't have class until late on Wednesdays), but I'd probably come home exhausted.
the only issue i have with it is tourist or theater-goers who don't check their tickets and show up around 7:45 or later for shows on Tuesday assuming it's an 8pm show. Thats happened often when i've seen TUesday evening shows
I love the 7PM curtain as a theatre-goer, although I don't know if I'd love it if I were in a show - probably not. I'd rather go to the theatre at 7PM if I'm going on a weekday. I find it more fun to have a meal after the theatre rather than before, so the 7PM curtain gives me some extra time to do that.
Count me as a huge fan of 7PM. I live out in the 'burbs and it allows me to bring my children in for an early dinner and a show and be home by 11pm instead of midnight. Without it I don't think we would have seen half the shows we have.
Agree w Little Wing. This JUST happened @ Putnam on Tues w a LARGE student group of about 25 people. Hadda hold up the whole show to seat 'em cos the seats were i the 2nd and 3rd rows stage left. But otherwise I like being home a bit earlier or even have time for a drink after.
I love it !! Having to wake up every day at 6 to get to work by 8AM.... anytime that I can see a show, and be back in my house by 10:30PM, I am happy !!
I saw Sweeney on a Tuesday night, and almost went out to dinner, thinking I had plenty of time - good thing I checked the ticket, I thought it started at 8!
I have a love/hate relationship with it. I hated it when I lived in NYC for a couple of weeks because I would have to high-tail it to the lotteries, and pray that the trains would hurry up. However, if you've already got tickets, it's wonderful.
There used to be a website that listed which shows start at 7 on Tuesdays. I thought it was www.tuesdaysat7.com but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know?
