The reason I don't like "overrated" is because it's insulting other people's opinions. You're not commenting on the show, you're commenting on the collective opinions of others and saying, in effect, they're wrong. The show doesn't "rate" itself, other people do.
So that will get you nowhere and piss people off. So, yes, "overrated" is overrated. It's also snotty and contrite. It doesn't make you smarter or better or more informed. It just makes you contrary and combative and shows your ignorance when using it. Share your own opinion if you want, but when you put down other people's opinions, get ready to have your "maverick" opinion challenged, as well.
