I still look back fondly on the stage version of his Children of a Lesser God and that devastating scene when John Rubinstein badgers Phyllis Frelich to speak. Still one of the most memorable, harrowing scenes in a lifetime of theatregoing.

There's no doubt that "Children of a Lesser God" is a masterpiece. Medoff should've won the Pulitzer for it.

Posted: 4/2/05 at 11:17amI think it lost to Talley's Folly? That's a tough choice - they are both wonderful plays. The early 80s on Broadway featured a great number of terrific American plays.
