As a senior in my highschool I have the oppurtunity to do a senior service project (community service project) at the end of my senior year and to not attend school, but rather to work on putting it together.

I plan to create a musical review. It will be starring me (soprano-belter), my friend who's a junior (alto), and two guys (one tenor, one baritone).

I was hoping you could all recommend some songs to add to the list that have some sort of similar theme? I'm thinking of going on some sort of plot base, but maybe if i get a collection of songs i can figure it out after.
It's gonna be a mix of solo songs w/ choreography or duets male & female or female & f or m&m or all. -> yeah that was weird of me to write out. i'm dumb.

anyways, help! (?)

You've got a perfect combination to do "Opening: A New World" from Songs for a New World.

What about "Louder Than Words" from TTB?

I don't know about the vocal parts, but Putting It Togetger was that kind of concept using only Sondheim. It was 5 people, but the basic interactions may work.
Don't know if that was any help, but it may be a start.

i LOVE Putting it Together... but rights are way too expensive to do something like that and still somehow have money to give to charity. i would definitely love to do that... or maybe do the review to sondheim not putting it together, but do my own shpiel.

Maybe you can do songs related to different decades as a theme:

20s could have Thoroughly Modern Millie
30s could include 42nd Street
60s could include Hairspray songs
And so on...

I point this out not to be picky, but because it could perhaps affect your grade:

"Revue" -- A musical show consisting of skits, songs, and dances, often satirizing current events, trends, and personalities.

"Review" -- A report or essay giving a critical estimate of a work or performance.

"What a story........ everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at her rear end." -- Birdie [http://margochanning.broadwayworld.com/] "The Devil Be Hittin' Me" -- Whitney

Could you connect the dots for me and explain how putting together a musical revue for yourself and your friends counts as a community service project?

Thank you Margo.

Namo, charging money for tickets to see this musical revue and then giving it to a charity works for the the senior service because the students are supposed to do something that interests them and that gives back to the community.
