Just to let you guys know that Donna Vivino, who plays Shelley in Hairspray on Broadway, has an official site now, and it's awesome! Donna also was the original Young Cosette in the Broadway production of Les Mis, and was in the Opposite of Sex workshop.

OH GOD!!!! WHAT A FANTASTIC SITE!!!! WHAT A HOTTIE!!!! BOTH THE SITE, AND THE WEB DESIGNERS, ARE COMPLETELY ON FIRE!!!! I CAN'T EVEN CONTROL MYSELF AND I'M AT WORK!!!! I just loved her in Hairspray--and seeing her site, I think she is even more gorgeous, fun, and extremely talented.

I saw her play Tracy on a Sunday night when the tour was in San Francisco. She had to wear a lot of padding but she did a good job!

What a great site!! I just think it's wonderful that she's teaching in NJ in addition to appearing in Hairspray. I think she's great as Shelley and would love to see her go on as Tracy. Of course I remember her when she appeared in Les Miz as well.

Well, you know, I've HEARD that the producers read the boards here, and I too would LOVE to see her go on as Tracy. So I'm gonna start a thread about that. Please post that you want to see Donna as Tracy (she's done it before in SF and she was WONDERFUL) so maybe we can help make it happen. Although she needs some serious padding, her voice is incredible...hate to make this comparison, especially since their vocal styles are so different, but think Shoshana Bean as Tracy if you haven't heard Donna do it. She's phenomenal and has so much energy!

I saw her in OPPOSITE OF SEX and she's fantastically talented.

Rath, I was thinking the same thing. I would love to know when she might be going on as Tracy because I'd make the trip from DC to see that. In reality it might be highly unlikely since Leslie Kritzer hardly ever went on as Tracy. Seems like out of all the 2nd covers for the role, Shoshana went on the most.

Yeah, because there's a standby, she really won't get to go on unless she asks to, which I'm sure she has, and the stage manager or the producers get to make the decision. So I thought if the audience expresses interest in seeing her, maybe they'll put her on.

If she does go on, of course it will be posted on her site. It will be updated regularly with news. It is her official site, meaning that everything on there comes directly from Donna. Sometimes, though, she won't know until last minute so check regularly, and of course I will post on BWW if I find out she's going on.

At this time I believe she just subs when they need her. She majored in English so maybe she teaches that? I have no clue

I take full responsibility for letting you all know if she goes on as Tracy! If I fail to live up to this promise, you can find me and kill me. She is going as as Prudy this month so if you haven't seen her in that role you should check her out...she is hilarious, and of course can sing a lot better than Julie Halston.

Donna seems to get compared to Shoshana a lot. Maybe because of the whole Shelley thing? But Donna has a more classical sound than Shoshana I think. I could see her playing Elphaba at some point...she definitely has the range.

She went in as Tracy today - we saw the 1:30 show. She was phenominal! Great voice, great acting, and handled the role superbly. I hope they put her in again soon.

Always great to see a LES MIZ alum doing well I remember her vividly as Young Cosette.

Yes, I too, think she reminds me of Sho Bean.

Glad to know she is successful in HAIRSPRAY.

She was, indeed, awesome! She hadn't had rehearsal since March-ish, and you couldn't tell at all. It was her first time doing the role on broadway. I can't say it enough, i'm not sure there's much she CANT do. She did some awesome shoshana bean riffs, and she basically sang the crap out of those sangs. Her dancing was great, and she acted it very well. A real triple threat.

i cant really gather my thoughts enough to say more, apparently bdway bares has that affect on people! But i hope they put her on again soon. Esp since she won't be there very much longer!
