Posted: 7/27/04 at 1:08pmWhat's the buzz on this? Should I order tickets before I see the previews? I have a fear that if I wait longer after preview, tickets will go fast. Right now, you can get pretty good seats after the middle of August.

Posted: 7/27/04 at 1:53pmOk, well, no responses, but I'm about to order for right orchestra, seats 10-12. I hope I can see decently. The tickets are cheaper before Aug. 16.

Posted: 7/27/04 at 2:10pmOh no sorry I meant previews. After I saw the price is lower during the previews, I figured I might as well see it then. What exactly goes on during the preview? Stupid question, I know. It's still the show, right? I assumed it's lower because it's when it first plays, so people don't generally know if it's good or bad yet.

Posted: 7/27/04 at 2:12pmDuring previews, they, well, perform the show. It is just a series of test runs to see what changes they have to make (ex: lyric changes, set changes, etc) before opening night.

previews is the chance for the cast to work things out and for the creators to make changes -- it is sometime fun seeing a show more thtn once in previews to see what songs/scenes get cut and added...
During the original run of Into the Woods, I was doing summer stock in New Hope, PA and we came into town three times during previews and saw many variations of the show's ending as wellas songs deleted and added --

Posted: 7/27/04 at 2:15pmHmmm, now I don't know. Maybe I should just wait to see how reviews are and then just wait to see it sometime after opening night.

Posted: 7/27/04 at 2:28pmI'm looking to get tickets for me and my future mother-in-law. Now she said I should wait till I hear reviews because what if it sucks if I get tickets for after opening? But I found awesome seats for the end of next month, and I feel like if I wait, and the show turns out to be good, tickets will sell fast.

If you intend to wait for the reviews, you won't be going. Critics are notorious for hating Frank's music, and I really doubt they can be objective about him. This is a shame because I have heard some really good things about this production.
This is one show you may actually like in spite of the critics, and online buzz may do you no good either in this case. There are those on this board who already have tickets for the show who hated every single song or show Frank has ever done, who are seeing the show just to come back and bash. On the other hand, there are Frank's groupies who love everything he does and no doubt will rave about the show if it's bad. I happen to like much of his music, but the only broadway show of his I really liked was the revised version of SP. I'm intending to see the show on Thursday and will post my thoughts here.

yesh, is this show going to be scary? Is there any nudity or anything or violence? What about children?
I think the previews are also a chance for the creative people to view how the audience recieves it.

Posted: 7/27/04 at 4:31pmI'd say go -- the story is certainly great...and Peter is right -- there are people who eith love or hat Frank Wildhorn -- I am not fond of his stuff -- for me it doesn;t work when you have "pop" type numbers in period pieces and I find much of his work to be a little obvious, but I plan on seeing the show and not letting his past shows determine my plans.
