Because I'm feeling warm affection for After Eight today. Let's revive this 1926 musical for him.
The musical was considered daring for its time: there was no opening chorus and no songs for the first 15 minutes.[1] The plot, told in one long dream, focuses on Peggy-Ann’s dream fantasies. She is the niece of the owner of a boarding house in New York and the fiancée of a local boy. She escapes from a hum-drum life through dreams of herself as a wealthy adventuress, with a yacht and a husband.
And here is the song list - with titles sure to make you spit take your Ovaltine...
Hello!
A tree in the park
Howdy to Broadway
A little birdie told me so
Charming, Charming
Where is that rainbow?
Finale act 1 (Wedding procession)
We pirates from weehawken
I'm so humble (Dropped soon after the New York opening)
Havana
Give this little girl a hand!
Peggy, Peggy
Come on and tell me (Dropped before the New York opening)
Paris is really divine
Trampin' along (Dropped before the New York opening)
In his harms (Dropped after the New York opening)
Re-used
Pipes of Pansy (Dropped before the New York opening)
Chuck it
Maybe it's me (Dropped before the New York opening)

Stunt cast Paris Hilton, so we can use the tagline "Paris is Really Divine!" on the poster

That's good casting. They could then also use "Trampin Along" to good effect in the commercial.

Queen Alice,
Thank you so much for your kind consideration In thinking of me.
I saw a small-scale revival of this show off-off-Broadway a while back. It was charming. And its score leaves all the labored, laborious, tuneless critics' darlings of today in the dust.

I confess I'd never heard of it After Eight but those song titles have made me grab for YouTube. Could it ever work at Encores?

Mmm, let's put it this way. It's not for the likes of those who bawl their eyes out at Sunday in the Park With George.

Streisand covered "Where's That Rainbow" on her "My Name Is Barbra, Two" album. It's terrific.
