Duncan Sheik's New Stuff

He seems to be working on a lot of new musicals/plays:

Because of Winn Dixie - Delaware Theatre Company

American Psycho - off West End - opening on Broadway Spring 2016?

The Nightingale - La Jolla Playhouse

Carson McCullers Talks About Love - Rattlestick Theatre

Alice by Heart- National Theatre/ Lyttleton Theatre (London)

Noir - NAMT Festival

The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey (PLAY)- Dixion Place NYC

The Caucasian Chalk Circle (PLAY) - Classic Stage Company NYC

Arms on Fire (PLAY) - Chester Theatre Company

Whats the scoop? Has anyone seen any of these? Are they any good? Are they coming to Broadway?

Duncan Sheik's New Stuff

I can't seem to get into any of his OLD stuff. I know a lot of people like the American Psycho film, but it creeps me out and I'm having trouble picturing the title character bursting into song. Unless it's aiming to be the new Sweeney Todd, then I don't know!

I don't like the film version of American Psycho. Never really have, but I found the musical riveting. I'm still surprised how well it worked. The show looked and felt exactly the way I thought it would--very slick, bright, and '80s master of the universe-esque.

The music fits the era it represents...it's a synth heavy sound that works. If I had to compare it to anything, it reminds of Depeche Mode. The show also uses songs from the era really effectively.

I'm anxious to see what the final outcome is with this. It works better then you would expect. Will this be a huge hit? I doubt it. I see it doing very well with 30 and 40something groups that remember the '80s.
