Hi all! I'm new to the chat boards and am looking forward to getting to know you guys. Forgive me, but this is slightly long winded background information prior to my actual question:

I'm an actress that's looking to expand my horizons and get back onstage. I've spent almost four years not acting because the college I went to was not entirely willing to cast non-MT majors in their productions and I was simply not able to commit to regional/community productions while handling my double major course load and working. That being said, I have stage experience and perform often at coffeehouses and cabarets. I also have a lot of experience being behind the scenes of productions and in other components of the arts. However, I'm not entirely sure if this is a resume that I would feel comfortable presenting at a professional audition.

I have seen several ECC auditions that I would LOVE to take a stab at if they have the time to see non-eqs. Part of me is just 100% willing to take the risk and go for it and the other part is unsure if it's worth it without obtaining more stage credits before getting in front of the professionals. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding this? I would love some insight.

Totally put anything you feel accomplished and proud of on your resume. Ultimately the creatives will judge you on what you bring in performance at an audition vs what is on your resume, so go in knowing that what you can physically bring to a project is what will get you the job vs your previous work experience. For principal parts this isn't true, but for the chorus and ensemble, don't worry about it :) and break a leg!! x
