ELEGIES in Philly

at the Philly Theatre Company with Michael Rupert, Keith Byron Kirk, and Donna Migliaccio among the 5 cast members. anyone been to see this production yet?

I'm really just curious to hear anyone's reactions to it, especially if you have the original to compare it to. I'm Chinatown bussing to Philly for the day tomorrow, to attend their "College Night" event. I couldn't pass it up, $15 for the ticket, a pre-show beer tasting, and a post-show Meet The Artists discussion. I'm really hoping William Finn is there by some chance. Even if not, Michael Rupert has become a kind of Finn-by-proxy. So if you have reviews, please post. And if you have any burning questions you might want asked, PM me.

Went to see Elegies and met William Finn last Sunday. Also met Michael Rupert, who was more personable than Finn. I asked him who did his headshots in NY and he graciously gave me name, etc. As for the show...I liked, not loved it. I kept waiting for a "moment" that never came. When the Earth Stopped turning was about as close as it got. I think my problem with the show was that all the songs were out of context. There was no character development that made me care about the people or the situations they were in. The 9/11 stuff I thought was VERY anticlimtic, and seemed top have no direction. The cast was excellent and I love Finn's music. But I would rather listen to my infinite joy CD.
