This is from Ken Mandelbaum's column this morning:

"Mentioned as possibilities for Encores!' Bye Bye Birdie: Karen Ziemba as Rose, Patrick Swayze as Albert, and Marcia Lewis as Mae."

This seems like ideal casting! Great! And I especially love the idea od Marcia Lewis since I have been saying she would be wonderful in this role since Encores! announced they were doing the show!

I think Karen Ziemba will be an adorable Rose. I really want Jessica Grove to be cast as Kim. And Matthew Morrison would be a perfect Conrad.

This sounds like poor casting.

Karen Ziemba is too girl-next-door. I think Rose should have some rough edges. Patrick Swayze is not nerdy enough to play Albert. Much too sexy to play Albert.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Yeah, he's too sexy and built for Albert. Doesnt look like a Momma's boy. Albert should be slightly nerdy, but with a certain "cute" charm that catches rose. I like the idea of Marcia Lewis as Mae, but for some reason I think she would be just like Tyne Daily in the movie.
