Just flew back from London last night. I saw a number of shows: WAR HORSE, SWEET CHARITY, PRISCILLA, and ENRON, and all I have to say about the last one is
WOW
It was a truly remarkable experience. Cannot wait to see American actors take on that material, especially Norbert. Can't wait.
I just saw Enron as well and while I was impressed with the concept and the performances - Samuel West as Skilling was sensationally good - I thought the 2nd act had real problems.
The downhill spiral of the corporation was all too accurately echoed in the downhill spiral of the drama itself. The last twenty minutes were deadly. One could feel the audience just wanting it to be over. And this was reflected when the cast came out for their bows - they got a very tepid reception. No bravos. No enthusiasm.
They need to tighten it up before it hits Broadway.
