Word on the street has it that Elaine Stritch and Bea Arthur have just signed to be in the Weissler revival of "Dreamgirls". Stritch will play the Effie White role and will sing "And I Am Telling You". Ms. Arthur will play Deena Jones and be given "Listen" in Act 2.

When reached for comment last night, original cast member Jennifer Holliday quipped "There ain't enough oxygen tanks in the Western Hemisphere for those two broads to get through that show."

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I prefer the whole Jennifer Holliday and Julie Andrews in SIDE SHOW bit that Emily and Alice do.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

I was fortunate enough to catch a performance of Ragtime with Nathan Lane as Coalhouse Walker Jr. LaChanze was also out so Rosie O'Donnell was Sarah for that evening. I was in tears at the end of Act 1.

I like the Jennifer Holliday/Julie Andrews "Side Show". It would bring such meaning to the piece. And two cheers for diversity casting.
