Depends on how they presented it. They could not do the Vienna production, as it has too much symbolism...it would cause the scratching of heads to occur.
I think if they used the Stuttgart production, they'd be most successful. This version of the show explains more of the story/characters rather than assuming the audience already knows everything.
For example, in the German productions, adult Prince Rudolf has more stage time and a somewhat proper introduction. In the Austrian version of the show, he's basically tossed on stage and begins singing a song with Death almost right away.
The Stuttgart production has stylish scenery, with an incredible revolving stage that moved up and down (although not to the complex extent of Lord of the Rings), beautiful costumes, and some great direction regarding characterizations.
It's the best production of the Dutch/German version.
