Some people think that talking about set changes and costumes is stupid. I don't, but I'm sure that there are people who do.
Let people talk about what they want to. If it doesn't interest you, don't read it. Different people have different opinions. It's pretty simple.

joshua if it makes you feel any better my particular fascination is microphones, and their placement

I'm obsessed with microphones, too! I've had a weird obsession with microphones since I was, like, eight years old. Very weird.

And Megan's hair is always curly when she comes out because it has been in pincurls under a wig cap for a couple of hours...

Thank you very much for clearing this up for me. I just kinda focused on the fact she didn't ahve the straight hair that kristin had, i hadn't noticed it changed, though now that i think about it . . . . . damn we need some wickedthemusical.com updates!
WickedGeek- No problem! I was glad I could clear it up for you- With all these changes to each production, wigs worn by different actresses start to blend and you can't remember the slightest thing about the hair design of a character.
Josh- I love you times ten and you brighten my day at CAP every morning- Well said...As it has been discussed TIRELESSLY on this website, this is a BROADWAY message board and wigs are a part of BROADWAY, Am I wrong? Does my judgement fail me? Anyhow, all posters are allowed to express their opinions about how trivial a subject may be. All I'm trying to say is that while you can post your hatred for 'stupid and pointless' posters like me (because apparently, I seem to be discussing things that are simply not important and I have been deemed not worthy to be a member of BWW), don't tell me that there are better things to talk about because the last time I checked, this was quite relevant. So I apologize TRULY, and I'll try to start talking about the deep and universal theme behind Wicked that conveys the pressure upon appearance by society and the beauty of friendship, rather than some SILLY wigs! Oh man, it just 'boggles my mind' how pretentious some people can be...
P.S.- Josh and Johnartdesigns, Have you ever noticed the vaious microphones worn by Elphaba? Sometimes, they seem to be on her hat, yet there is one on her forehead, and yet another near her ear! Yikes!

Ugh totally obsessed with wigs and microphone placement too . . .
By the by, did any of you catch the Broadway performance in late February 2005 where Shoshana's hat fell off as she ascended on her platform - and her microphone came off with it?
Her rendition of the climax of "Defying Gravity" went a little something like this that night . . .
"IT'S MEEEEEEEEEE- [Mouth still wide open for "me", sans sound]"
But anyway.
P.S. I'm in CAP too

Yes, I have! Elphaba wears two, possibly three mics. There is the one on her forehead, then another one in the hat and I think a third elsewhere. You can't be too safe when it comes to your leading character!
They come in handy; as many of us know, on Shoshana Bean's first official day as Elphaba, her hat fell off during the flying sequence of "Defying Gravity" and her backup mic had to be used.
Justin- You make me smile.

AKIVA! Your Freudian Slip is showing. BIG TIME:
"And I think the reason Kendra doesn't have the straight wig is that it wouldn't suit her. He looks so damn cute with the curly do, I don't think the straight would look good on her."
How upsetting- I feel as if that certain 'witchy touch' would be missing without the pointy hat, not to mention the sound missing due to the absence of a microphone...Shoshana seems to have a little trouble with the DG lift- I could actually see her feet through the false skirt during a performance, as her skirt seemed to be cuaght on something. During another performace, while moving foward on the lift, she seemed to be struggling to drape the fabric in front of her.
Nothing can be worse than when Jenna Leigh Green just never went up...

Funny you should mention, and I was considering creating a thread for this:
I believe it was two nights ago that Shoshana's safety bar didn't click into place, and she didn't fly at all.
Shoshana walked downstage center and delivered the song from there. The technicians struggled to light her. Eventually a spotlight appeared on her face.
The cast has instructions not to come out, should Elphaba not fly.
A few of them awkwardly wandered on, anyway.
That's not all that happened.
After Shoshana stopped singing, there was no blackout.
She stood for a moment with her broom extended, and then walked into the wings.
This non-fictional story was delivered directly from a few of my friends in the cast.

The end.

Alas, yes. Bravo.
I believe I would have cried because of the sheer embarrassment I would have felt FOR her...It sort of works if you think about it- Still, the lift is the 'money effect' in WICKED and I would have been highly disappointed had I been there...

I remember, in some interview, Shoshana was asked what she would do if the lift didn't work. She said that she would probably walk downstage and do her best to deliver the sh*t out of the song. And it looks like that is exactly what she did.
rusty- in response to elphaba's 3 mics there is official reasoning for them. Only one is on at a time, the one on her forehead (which is tinted green as is the one on her tempel) is the primary mic thats used in all scenes she doesn't have the hat on since the hat covers it up, which is why theres a mic (complete with the pack attached inside it) on the brim of the hat so the audio stays clear. The on on her tempel is the back-up microphone in case one of the above 2 fails. Glinda also wears 2 but they are usually placed together.

Yeah? Well you're way frickin overinvested.
Thanks Johnart! Very interesting- I've always wondered what each microphone's function is exactly- I also know that in WICKED- they use a new and special type of technology involving sensors that detect where the performers are on stage ensuring that the lighting correlates with the position of the actors- A former teacher of mine who worked on the show explained it much better!
It happened with Jenna Leigh Green in her first preformance as Elphie too
No need to jump down my throat or be nasty Namo- Besides, I didn't ask you for an analysis of my comment or to draw a conclusion about my personality or character based on something I remarked upon...Rudeness is unnecessary.
I think Shoshana is brilliant and I, as an audience member, feel very umcomfortable when major technical, or any kind of mishaps occur. As a performer, I know how odd it can feel and i'm sure she tore the song up anyway- but it must have been a tad awkward, which would have made me tear up a bit, because thats how I typically react.
Overinvested to you, fine- Don't embarrass me on a public message board- Not that I really give a damn about what you think of me...But for the future, its polite to hold back from publicly and openly insulting people- Its just decent. And I mean you no offense, I just appreciate people treating eachother with respect.

Man that would be awkward for the performer. Something similar happened in a show I was in (MUCH lower budget, of course) and it was SOO awkward for the people onstage. Lol, we all joked about it afterwards.
Jonart, who's to say she didn't cut her hair? Plus, I dont think they'd let her take the wig home.

If you are specifically looking for a curly wig with a metallic element, it's important to check the product description or specifications to ensure it meets your requirements. Standard wigs for everyday use or fashion purposes typically do not contain metal components.
