...In case you somehow don't know what the title of this thread lead to, it's my review of Spamalot! I posted in a thread about my going to see Spelling Bee tonight, and how excited I was because Dan's leaving very soon. But then my mom found cheap tickets to Spamalot, which we have been dying to get tickets for since it opened, so this was a huge deal. To make a long story short, we chose to see Spamalot instead of Bee. I'm very bummed that I missed Dan, but hey, I finally saw Spamalot!
One person was out, Christopher Sieber. Okay, my review:
Christian Borle: First of all, congrats to you and Sutton! Anyway, he was incredible, my mom's favorite part of the show. I loved Prince Herbert.
Michael McGrath: He's really good. I mean, you can't go crazy with the role, but he certainly was great in it! I loved his reactions to King Authur in I'm All Alone.
Simon Russell Beale: Well, I just missed Tim Curry. I'm bummed, but Simon was great, I liked him a lot. His little pauses to the audience were priceless. Now I'll be very sad if you tell me Tim was better...
David Hyde Pierce: Wow. Very, very funny. I knew he couldn't be missed, and at the stage door, he said he leaves in April, so I'm glad we caught him. He was really hilarious.
Hank Azaria: Who doesn't love this guy? So what's the deal, he left, came back in December, and is leaving again soon? Something like that? Well, another one I'm glad I saw. You could tell he was having a blast up there, he was amazing.
Drew McVety: Our standby for Christopher. I liked him a lot. Very funny, especially in the beginning.
Lauren Kennedy: Very talented! I couldn't really imagine Sara being in this role, but obviously she was! I remembered Lauren as Fantine in Les Miz, and I'll get to that at the stage door part. But she was really, really good, and very pretty.
Stage door: I'm looking at the playbill as I type. Okay...I got David's autograph, Hank's, Lauren's, and Michael's. All the guys were very sweet, very serious though, like they were totally used to it, no duh :) It was interesting when Lauren came out:
My mom: "We remember you as Eponine in Les Miz!"
Lauren: "Oh..."
Me: "Mom, she was Fantine."
My mom: "Oh, shoot!"
But she talked to us for a while, and was very nice. Sorry that was sooooo long! But I had a wonderful time, if you haven't seen Spamalot, go see it while Hank and David are still there, it's so worth it. Love to all!
