Thanks for that review, now I'm looking forward to seeing it even more. I'll definately be going there on Friday to try to get tickets, but in case I don't get in the end, its a huge relief to know that it is coming to DVD. Soon I hope!

I'm gonna try to see it on the 29th. Raul on the big screen...who wouldn't like that?!
Dear Emcee and Penguin - I'm very glad you feel the way you do about your respective career aspirations, and hope you continue to pursue them. We really, really need you!
Emcee, I still need to finish reading your review. I read a little bit of it last night online before we went in, but then we got separated.
Emcee...thanks. That was a great post/review and I can't wait to see the movie. One more amazon wish list item for me.
I'll PM it to you, Britt.
Thanks, Chloe.

To the comment on the booing when Avenue Q won the Tony I don't think this was the case. We were surrounded by Avenue Q people and the cheering was intense. I don't remember any booing. There was a sign of surprise but no booing.
Oh, there was booing. And my cousin who was there turned and said "Why are people booing?"
alright there could have been, but up in the mezz people were very happy lol.

Emcee, thank you for your review. It was lovely.
And I hope you're all serious about a DVD! I'd give my molars for it. *bounce*
I was thrid tier...where the "real" people are...
hey the "real" people are everywhere hehe
Emcee thanks for the review, I know I would have LOVED this movie!! I am sooo happy to hear that it will be on DVD, I know I am probably jumpping the gun on this one, but any idea how long that may take? I really need to see this, like yesterday!
will this EVER come out on DVD!? *prays*
It was asked and answered several times on this thread. Yes.
Thanks so much for posting your review! I was really hoping to be able to catch it but did not have the chance. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the Taboo footage.
Absolutely loved it. .I wish there was more of the avenue q cast...but there was a lot of great footage of the show anyways...a lot of Bobby and Jeff...who are so funny....working on songs and talking about the show...oh and Jeff's dad is hysterical...Jeff was actually at the screening and he answered question afterwards. The highlight of the entire film was the scene with Stephanie and John in the limo ride to the Tonys. John was doing his..."my face if I win look." He said he was practicing...so first he did his face if he won...which was full of suprise...then his face if hugh won...which was a casual smile nod combo...and then if Alfred molina won...which was a nod with this really puzzled look on his face...it was sooooo funny. Some other Avenue Q highlights...some clips from some early cast readings...John looked so different...and the gang recording the cast album...it was fantastic....like I said i would have loved to have seen more of the cast...but it was still really enjoyable. Ok now besides Avenue Q...the film was chock full of footage...it was all so interesting. I thought it was very well edited and directed. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD.
I saw it at the screening this afternoon and loved it. I thought it really gave a great insight into just how much work goes into getting a production mounted and how much of a true labor of love it is.
I felt so bad for Euan Morton. I wish him nothing but success in the future. He deserves it.
Michael Reidel should get a life. It's true. He doesn't want anything to succeed or do well. He wants the entire community to struggle to overcome the gossip he writes before they even open. And you know that has to affect the morale of the shows he rips apart and thus, their focus is completely misdirected. I'm glad the people at the screening booed him. He deserved it.
I can't wait for the DVD either. They shot over 600 hours of footage. So I am assuming there will be a lot of extra scenes, etc. However, the filmmaker said she would prefer the movie to get a theatrical release first.
And I really liked the version of Lullaby of Broadway Idina sings over the end credits.
So after bemoaning the fact that I never saw this film, I finally saw it tonight at a screening in conjuction with the 92nd Street Y.
Unfortunately, due to subway problems, I missed the first half hour. Really pissed.
But everything else I saw was brilliant.
Jeff Marx's dad is one of my new favorite persons in the world.
The critic segment of course made me frustrated...Riedel right next to LeSourd. My worst nightmare.
Dori Bernstein who did a Q&A after mentioned that Riedel loves being the villain.
I was rooting a bit more for Wicked than for Avenue Q in the Tonys, but after everything that you saw with Marx and Lopez, I couldn't help but smile when they won.
Robert Lopez telling the cab driver that he wrote "the best musical of the year" was hysterical.
(Interestingly, Dori randomly ran into them and met them at...maybe Q's first tech rehearsal? And they started hanging out and just by the chance run-in is how so much of the footage of them came to be in the film)
I agree, the limo bit with John and Stephanie was hilarious.
So interesting to have the 4 shows that are just so different and what-not.
But yeah, really loved it.
So when it's time for the Q&A, the ppl introduce Dori, who was advertised AND(what?) Euan Morton...who was there watching the film with us.
Now, I've never seen him perform or anything, but something about seeing him you know..spill his heart out in the film and then for him to be there was just...really cool.
Plus, Scottish men *le sigh*
Anyway, most important tidbit from the Q&A: DVD in February
Wow, my first post in this thread is so poorly written.

I was very glad to finally see this film.
WRQ I agree with everything you said
I really want to hang out with Jeff, his family and the
whole Q team!
Euan had said he would be there if he was in town. It was great to see him. He really needs to be in something 8 times a week. I also liked his wish for the movie to be represented in Playstation form, so he could change the outcome of the Tonys.
I hope the DVD has many, many extras.
No, it was really well written. You're very eloquent and intelligent and now all of a sudden I'm deeply ashamed of my own bufooniness, lol.
Can I just say I love the word "bufoon?"
Not to thread-jack in the name of self attentiveness, but I think it's kind of natural to look back on something way after you've written it, even if you thought it was good at the time, and go "wow, why did I say that?"
