I got my Tree Grows in Brooklyn ticket at TKTS... However, I just couldn't risk it with Purlie, which I love and have waited to see for years, so I bought tix... I wouldn't be too surprised if it was at TKTS though.
Also - there are alot of SEATS FROM HELL at the City Center, and those are often the ones you will find at TKTS. The rear gallery seats are so bad, you might as well stay at home. The plus about the bad seats at City Center is that you still get to hear the production live, and the star of the Encores productions is often the score.
I was in front gallery and it was TERRIBLE. Thank goodness I spotted 2 seats in 3 row orchestra and grabbed them during intermission, I would've been so frustrated if I'd sat in the gallery during the entire show. You really have to strain to see anything.
I got tickets to the Encores Wonderful Town at TKTS. Yes, they were at the very tip top of City Center, but it's not like there's anything to look at at an Encores production anyway. At least we got to hear that phenomenal performance for $12.50!
