Encores! seminars and open dress rehearsals

I was wondering if anyone had been or knew a lot about the Encores seminars and open dress rehearsals? Are they worthwhile to go to? How much of a rehearsal is the rehearsal (ie if we go to the open dress is could we give our actual tickets to friends)? Oh, and do you get to meet any of the actors/creative types involved at these? Thanks!
