So in short: Neil, Craig and Bill are the only three allowed to make movie musicals (so far)
they also produced GYPSY, JUDY GARLAND: ME AND MY SHADOWS, SERVING IN SILENCE and the films of HAIRSPRAY and CHICAGO (among others)....Neil Meron.
The duo is a class act.
I thought that you were discussing the ending of the stage musical.
It's been a good while since I've seen a stage production of "Annie", but I picked up a copy of the cast album recently on CD and gave it a listen.
Does it seem to anyone else that the emotional end to the story comes with "I Don't Need Anything But You" and there are still a couple of songs after that! By the time I got to "New Deal for Christmas" I was thinking "Isn't this show over yet?"
I don't know what play all you guys saw, but in the version I saw Annie dies, Sandy gets euthanized, and Rooster and Hannigan become filthy rich after pimping out the other orphans.

You must be referring to "Annie, Jr." taz.
I think the 1999 films is SOOOOOOOOOO much better! Although, I don't recall if it is Hannigan disguised as Annie's mother in the film/stage version or Lily. I am almost sure it was Kathy Bates did it in the '99 film. I saw the show on stage 3 times, but I can't remember how it's done!
