So, are they planning to put it on Broadway next year? I saw an article somewhere that the British version was going to try to transfer sometime in the Spring of next year.

Why not?

Maybe because it's a good play that's been given a good production and features an actor who's getting good reviews?
Gosh, what a concept.

"and features an actor who's getting good reviews?"
I really hope you're talking about Griffiths & not Radcliffe.
La de da dum!
Radcliffe has gotten surprisingly good reviews for his performance. Yes, it's stunt casting, but the guy has to shake off the Potter stuff *sometime*.
"the guy has to shake off the Potter stuff *sometime*" suggests that he has a future in acting. I really hope not. There is way bigger talent out there.

Radcliffe got raves for his performance (Griffiths, as I recall, had trouble with his lines for the first few weeks of the run).
Unless you're talking about his other talent, at which point all that matters is what Perez Hilton thought.

Didn't some elementary school in Virginia do Equus last year?

Broadway Local, that article is hilarious.
Returning to Radcliffe's acting abilities, I accept he got rave reviews. So did Connie Fisher. Nuff said.
Radcliffe got good reviews. And I actually saw him, and he was pretty good. Okay, maybe not AMAZING, but it was his first theatre role, he's trying to shake off Harry Potter, he's 17, and running around naked in front of a thousand strangers every night. He did bloody well considering.
Early in previews, he was actually out-acting Richard Griffiths. Although Griffiths was phenomenal once he'd actually settled into it. ^_^

You have the correct answer. (Or rhetorical question as the case may be.) The play's ok, but not the best treatment of the themes it attempted to elucidate. They're overly familiar by now; although Shaffer redeemed himself somewhat with 'Amadeus,' the rehashing has often caused some to think he also wrote 'Agnes of God'. Most audiences are beyond therapy nowadays, and the generation who were moved by the plight of the good doctor are likely to find his self-discovery tiresome in the extreme. Put in a time machine, today's 40- & 50-somethings would probably leave the theatre thinking he should lighten up and take a Carnival Cruise or at least sign up for a yoga class. Which leaves the casting of the third lead... which in turn turns the production into something of a dick joke...

Come to think about it, though, a production of 'Lettice and Lovage' could be fun...
