Hi there,

I'm writing about my cabaret show... the music of the great Ethel Merman, which I'm performing at the Metropolitan Room next Friday at 7pm. I basically do a Jim Bailey style recreation of Merman, and you can see me in action on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MMTsILZu2w Cabaret Scenes described me as 'uncannily similar to Merman, quick-witted, fun to watch, and great to hear'.

I'm sorry to abuse the board for selfish means, but I'm not from NYC and am having trouble get the word out to interested people about my show.

I hope some of you might be able to come MAC and Cabaret Hotline members get $5 off the cover.

Here is a link tothe show details: http://metropolitanroom.com/show.cfm?id=87806

All the very best,

Dominic Mattos

Good luck with your show.
I thought this thread was The Merm getting a Cabaret room in NYC in her name.

"Hey, saw your show at The Merm, you were swell!"

I still think this legend should have a theatre named after her.

And that theatre could be the Imperial where she appeared in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, CALL ME MADAM, & GYPSY(after its transfer from the Broadway Theatre). What do you think, Shubert Organization?

"Madam Rose...and her daughter...Gypsy!"

I could not agree more, it is high time Merman had a theater named after her... I can't think of another performer who had such an impact on musical theater. She just was 'Broadway'. It's so strange that she hasn't be recognised in this way. I saw the other thread about the Merman Gypsy recording - it's amazing. I went crazy when I got hold of a copy about 3 years ago. There's one of her in 'Hello, Dolly!' too.

Thanks for the good wishes for my show. I really hope some of you can come and help me to pay tribute to this one-of-a-kind classy dame!!!
