I saw a one-woman play years ago in Los Angeles, called "His Eye Is On the Sparrow," inspired by the Waters autobiography. It was pretty brilliant, and her story was/is fascinating.

You live in LA and don't have access to a physical library?

There is a wonderful anecdote about Ethel Waters in The Season! I tell her joke about the donkey attending the animals picnic all the time.
