I was reading this article and it seems that the French Culture Minister is asking for subtitles in live theater. But aren't live shows performed in the language of the country?

"The French minister also proposed the creation of a fund to promote subtitles of theatre shows and musicals, a European network of libraries as well as a European digital library."

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

interesting tha what I thought too. Maybe the audiences prefer it in the original language it was written in. That's why i don't listen to translated operas.

I can understand cinema subtitles, I can only suppose that the idea is to promote more touring theatre throughout Europe. The only theatre companies that I know do it on a regular basis are the RSC and NT.
