Evening Performances, Just Curious

I always see a mat. show, and typically on a saturday mat. Due to work, schedule conflicts etc, I've never really seen an evening show in my 5 years of going to the theatre, with the exception of 2 evening shows, as they were gifts and I was with friends.

do the actors talk to the audience after the show during evening performances? I've always wondered that. When I went to the two evening shows with friends, the actors actually talked to the audience, but primarily because they were asking for donations I believe.
Just wondering, is it the norm for actors to talk to audiences after evening shows on a nightly basis?

I guess the short answer to this is "sometimes".

I've only heard actors talk to the audience after a show if either a)it's during the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids fundraising drive, when they talk to the audience after the curtain call and offer various (usually signed) items in exchange for donations; or b) if it's a special "talkback" performance like the one they were doing at "Chicago" on Tuesday nights (not sure if that's still going on?) I believe "Chorus Line" was also doing something like this for a while, and I think XM/Sirius radio does "talkbacks" for its programming.

I think it's safe to say that of all of the shows performing on Broadway on any given night, most are probably *not* doing talkbacks, but a few may be. If you're interested in finding out if one is scheduled for a particular show, it's probably best to call the box office. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this, folks!

I think the poster was referring to the stage door when he/she mentioned talking to the audience.. Maybe? I don't know.

If it is talking to the audience at the stagedoor then there is a better chance of that going on after an evening show. There are always actors who don't leave the theatre between shows.

Oh, I meant after the show, as in right after the actors bow. Not at the stage door.
I don't know why, but for some reason I just felt the cast might just get into a five minute chat, as in, thanks for coming, did you enjoy the shows, ask ques etc...I just wanted to ask. I guess it's not the "norm" to do that. They're tired, probably, and it's late..or whatever. Just wondering!

TheatreLover76, The only time Actors have talked to the audience right after the show is during BC/EFA collection times or if the show is closing and it's closing night.
