So I just went to buy my tickets to the Evita tour and it said that it was a Pre-Broadway performance? Has anyone else heard anything about this? I'm assuming that maybe they made a mistake or they are just trying really hard to generate interest by saying "Pre-Broadway"
Here is the link http://tiny.cc/EvitaTour

Hmmmm.
I pray it isn't with this cast - I haven't heard good things.

Posted: 3/14/08 at 1:22pmmaybe that's what they mean by "pre-broadway"... that all cast members are in the "pre-broadway" phase of their careers.

Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes

Posted: 3/14/08 at 2:27pmI figured since this was a non-equity tour that they were just streching it. I guess I was wondering if this is how the tour company is billing it or just the way our local theater is trying to promoting it to try and sell more tickets.

The producers for this tour are noted for non equity and not too good productions. They used to play the big equity house here, but haven't for years. Their EVITA will have a 1 performance booking at the University theater here. This version wouldn't have a chance of a Broadway engagement unless it was in the basement of ToysRUs.

Posted: 3/15/08 at 3:11amsome reviews by the people who are paid to do so can be found by searching Jack Neal's Theatre reviews, modbee.com, gardearts.org- you'll find that almost every touring production, West End, and the broadway show for that matter, received reviews ranging from terrific to horrid. Assuming something is not good by "hearing things" is an easy way to bring more negativity to an already cold business. Non-equity or not, it seems some people think there is something worthwhile in this particular re-staging of the original Hal Prince production.
