Sorry if these are stupid/annoying questions but
1)Why hasn't Evita been revived? I mean it hasnt been put on in 25 years and seemed pretty popular. From what I heard the book is pretty boring which could explain part, but that wouldnt be a sole reason for mounting a new production. Any ideas as to why it may not have been brought back?
2)Why wasn't the Dreamgirls revival so shortlived and seemingly unsuccessful? I could see probably because it came so soon after the original, but was there another issue?
Thanks for putting up with these posts

EVITA has been revived numerous times. It just hasn't been brought back to Broadway. I don't know why it hasn't played the Great White Way since closing originally but I doubt it has anything to do with it's "book" since it's a rock opera and almost completely sung.

The Dreamgirls revival WAS successful and only intended as a limited run engagement. In fact, I think the run had to be extended. That revival got GREAT reviews. I saw it at least 7 times to enthusiastic responses every time.

The revival was actually the tour, right?

Yes it was it was the tour that made a stop to The Great White Way. It was a more scaled down version of the original with a top notch cast of performers that included Lilias White as Effie, Alisa Gyse as Deena, Weyman Thompson as Curtis and Arnetia Walker as Lorrell. It played The Ambassador Theatre (right next door to The Colony Record Shop) on the corner of 49th Street and B'way.

Oh, thank you for the enlightenment. So I suppose after the original closed, the tour began and then stopped back on broadway due to its success and played it like any other tour stop kind of?
Thanks for the insight.

I think Alisa Gyse was the Deena I saw in Atlanta.
