Guys it's normal for Che to get more applause than Eva we've gone into detail about it before. Eva is a horrible character the audience hates and despises.
Just. Stop.

Scorpion has summed up exactly what attracted me to Elena's performance. I went into the London production back in 2007 not expecting to like it, having heard the cast album prior to seeing the show. I was clearly thrown off and was deciding not to see it, as the 1979 cast album is so iconic and I couldn't imagine it being done any differently. At the performance, however, I was immediately smitten with Elena's beauty, her energy and unique style; the show itself was lacking in many places, but her stage presence and personality made up for it. She's a very unique Eva that may not have the vocal strength of Patti but has made the role her own. An unforgettable performance for all the right reasons.

Sorry if this question already has been asked, but when will Elena Roger play her final performance as Evita?
(I liked her very much)
Best regards

She's contracted to the end of the year. On vacation right now until July 21.

I ended up seeing Evita twice in one week recently, as I had previously purchased a seat to see Ricky after his vacation, but then ended up getting a papered ticket a few days earlier to see Max as Che, but the surprising part of seeing two shows that close was Elena.
I had read some of the hatred online, but I also know this place can be a bit catty and have learned to tune much of it out. But as soon as she came onstage and sang, I was like 'Oh my God, she's awful... they were actually right.' In Buenos Aires, she was two or three beats behind the orchestra in the fast parts. She seemed overwhelmed. And I actually thought, what must it be like to be in this cast and have to hear her caterwauling like this every night. They deserve hazard pay.
Then, I saw her four days later, and she was brilliant. She owned the stage, sang the hell out of it, and demanded attention.
So, based on that, I'm starting to think she might be terribly inconsistent since the role is so demanding, and we're all clueless that there are two versions of her Eva. I never saw such a different performance by the same actor in a show ever.

The performance I saw was brilliant, but she was still struggling to keep up in BUENOS AIRES. But to tell the truth, I think it was the Conductor. It seemed like she WANTED some room and was determined to get it. They synced back up a bit before the dance break.
Same thing happened at PORGY & BESS the other night during "I Got Plenty O' Nothin'". I don't think you can blame it on the performer all the time. Sometimes the conductors rush it.

Double-post, sorry.

I saw one of the shows with Max and the usual conductor, Kristen Blodgette, was out - this was one of the times that Elena and the actor who played Magaldi sounded off tempo.

Was it a male conductor? It was when I went.

Yes, it was a male conductor. I don't have the Playbill in front of me for the name. Elena gets so much crap but the above poster stating that she was determined to get some breathing room in Buenos Aires seems right. It's sad that she's been inconsistent so that some days people will think she's awful, other days brilliant. The three times I saw her differed - the first two were fine, they were early in the run so I didn't see anything out of the ordinary; last week I saw the issue with the tempo.
