Mine? RENT
Updated On: 6/22/06 at 05:06 PM
Do you mean your favorite show that was made into a film? -- Because RENT isnt made into a DVD... it's made into a movie... My favorite show made into a DVD (taped for video..) would probably have to be Into the Woods or Sweeny Todd

Rent wasn't made into a video/DVD.
It was shot as a major motion picture.
Are you talking about stage shows turned into films, or stage shows preserved on film?
For film preservation, mine would be Sunday in the Park with George

I do love 1776
Given the answer of the person asking the question, this thread makes no sense to me. You ask about show, but you answer with a movie. Which do you want to know? Favorite movie version of a Broadway show, or favorite show that was recorded and released on video? My favorite film version of a Broadway show, is THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Favorite video/DVD of a stage show is either VICTOR/VICTORIA or CRAZY FOR YOU. Not that either one of those is my favorite show, but they are my favorites of those captured on video.
I love Sunday in the Park with George.

I don't like the CRAZY FOR YOU video - Jim Walton seems a bit fey, Stacy Logan can't act, and the late Larry Linville is pretty awful.
I have another ... uhhh... visual documentation of the show... with a much better cast...
I'm going to answer this question in terms of film. My favorite was Chicago. They added more choreography, it was flashier without being too gaudy, and I loved the talent. When I saw Chicago on stage, the talent was great as well, but I didn't like how it was presented concert style and everything was black and dark.
Oh, and I like the Producers, but I felt that the movie was more of a carbon copy of what is currently on stage, and there was nothing that really made it more original than the stage version. Especially in the beginning during "Opening Night" it was pretty obvious that they were on a stage and not in a random city street in New York.
for a show turned in to a film it would be Rent
for a show recorded for dvd , Jerry Springer the opera
chicago! one of 2 times the movie is better than the musical (the other being singin' in the rain!).
