I just watched the movie of "A funny thing...Forum" and noticed flies in many of the scenes. I thought maybe this was just a coincidence, but in the final credits there are animated flies all over. Does this have something to do with the story, or some kind of symbolism? Am I just looking to deeply into it?

"The film's elaborate sets were strewn with actual fruits and vegetables, which were often left to rot in the Castillian sun at the end of the shooting day. The flies that plagued the production became a motif in the film and are a memorable feature of the animated end credits designed by Richard Williams"

The sets were left over from The Fall Of The Roman Empire.

It is the original Gladiator & you cannot beat 3 dimensional sets over CGI.

What could have been a great tourist draw ( a huge Roman Forum set that was eye popping) was torn down 5 years after the cameras stopped rolling.

I know that a White House set built for one film (Was it Dave?) has been used in several, including The American President and X-Men 2. Seems pretty accurate to me.
